The President, the Pope and Income Inequality

Progressive Newton recently posted - We thank the President for his remarks yesterday on inequality being “the defining challenge of our time." Today there is growing concern over the vast disparities of wealth in the country. Increasingly large numbers of men, women, and children are living in poverty or close to the poverty line. They are worried about basic needs such as a place to live and food to eat. At the same time, a small percentage of people are living with extraordinary wealth. Public policy has driven that inequality and there is much at the state level that can be improved. We are absolutely committed to working on economic justice going forward. We thank them and join them in that commitment.
