SUMMARY:Mass-Care Strategy and Working Conference
DESCRIPTION:Mass-Care Strategy and Working Conference\nMedicare for All in Massachusetts\nThe Future Is Now!\nSaturday June 21\, 2025\n10am to 4pm\nClark University\nHiggins University Center 2nd Floor\n950 Main St. Worcester\, MA\nMass-Care is hosting a state-wide strategy and working conference June 21 from 10am to 4pm at Clark University in Worcester – Medicare for All in Massachusetts: The Future is Now! \nWe all know the health care crisis that exists in Massachusetts: already exorbitant insurance rates are soaring by an additional 12% this year\, and the bankruptcy of Steward Hospitals has left minority and working class communities without access to hospitals. Medicare for All is the only solution that will provide complete coverage to all Massachusetts residents and save money for all. \nThe core of the conference will be breakout sessions\, by sector\, throughout the day: \n\n*Healthcare workers\n*Labor unions\n*Businesses\n*Municipal and elected officials\n*Community organizations and organizers\n\nEach of these sectors have a unique relationship with the private health insurance system. Bringing those common experiences together will help define and carry out a stronger action-oriented organizational effort to enact Medicare for All\, however we win it\, through a legislative vote or by a binding referendum vote by the people. The breakout sessions are designed to build activism and deepen all aspects of the commitment and to embolden the movement for Medicare for All in MA. \nRegistration is a $40 donation per person or whatever you can afford. This includes morning beverages and pastries and a box lunch. This doesn’t completely cover the cost of the conference so extra donations are welcome. \nSponsorship of the conference by organizations is $100. \nThere will be a Silent Auction of donated items throughout most of the day\, so remember to bring your credit card\, check or cash. We hope you or your organization will join us as we collectively work to “up the ante” on our elected leaders to save our healthcare and enact Medicare for All in Massachusetts. \nClick Here to Register for the Conference

SUMMARY:“People’s Hearing” on Legislative Reform
DESCRIPTION:“People’s Hearing” on Legislative Reform\nWhat: The Coalition to Reform our Legislature (CROL) will hold a People’s Hearing to address two bills\, filed by CROL’s members and allies\, that would improve the way that our legislature operates. The bills were filed consistent with House and Senate rules\, yet both chambers bypassed the typical process of holding formal hearings on them\, leaving the public in the dark on their benefits. \nWhen: Tuesday\, June 17 1:30-3 PM \nWhere: Church on the Hill\, 140 Bowdoin St.\, Boston \nWho: The hearing will feature testimony from advocates\, former legislators\, and members of the public. \nWhy: CROL is a politically diverse coalition of groups and individuals committed to making the Massachusetts legislature more accountable\, effective\, and transparent. CROL proposed two bills to accomplish those objectives. \nOne bill would establish independent legislative research and fiscal analysis bureaus to provide legislators with the tools necessary to craft legislation based on objective data\, rather than reliance on special interests. The second bill would reform the stipend system which presently gives leadership extraordinary control over legislators’ salaries\, replacing it with a less costly and less leadership-controlled stipend system that rewards performance\, rather than loyalty. \nCROL is holding this hearing to advance public debate on our dysfunctional legislature. \nRSVP here.

SUMMARY:No Kings Rally Norfolk
DESCRIPTION:In America\, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech\, detained people for their political views\, threatened to deport American citizens\, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies. \n🚨On Saturday\, June 14\, we’re taking to the streets nationwide. We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind.🚨 \nThe flag doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It belongs to us. We’re not watching history happen. We’re making it. \nOn June 14th\, we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones\, no crowns\, no kings. Check out nokings.org for more information. \nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Boston May Day 2025: Workers Should Have Power\, Not The Billionaires!
DESCRIPTION:Boston May Day 2025: Workers Should Have Power\, Not The Billionaires!\n\n\n\n\n\nAcross the country—from fruit fields in California to classrooms in Chicago\, from kitchens in Queens to loading docks in Atlanta—working people are rising up. We are demanding a country that puts our families over their fortunes—public schools over private profits\, healthcare over hedge funds\, housing over homelessness. \nMusk\, Trump and their fellow profiteers are trying to create a race to the bottom—on wages\, on benefits\, on dignity itself. They want to erase labor rights\, break our unions\, and silence immigrant voices. \nMay Day 2025 we are standing united. We’re organizing for a world where every family has housing\, healthcare\, fair wages\, union protection\, and safety—regardless of race\, zip code\, or immigration status. \nThey’re defunding our schools\, privatizing public services\, attacking unions\, and targeting immigrant families with fear and violence. This is a war on working people—and we will not stand down. \nThis May Day\, we will turn the page. This is the beginning of a new era—one where working families lead\, immigrants are protected\, and no one is left behind. This is not charity. This is not a request. We are reclaiming our power from corporate elites\, and we will not be intimidated by Trump\, Musk\, or their billionaire backers. They’ve ruled for too long. Their time is up. \nSTOP THE BILLIONAIRE TAKEOVER. WE ARE THE MANY. THEY ARE THE FEW. THIS IS MAY DAY. JOIN US.
