SUMMARY:Let Lawmakers Know You Want Strong Vaccine Requirements
DESCRIPTION:Let Lawmakers Know You Want Strong Vaccine Requirements \nJULY 8th\, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM \nCHURCH ON THE HILL BOSTON and MASSACHUSETTS STATE HOUSE \nJoin Massachusetts Families for Vaccines for an advocacy day in support of H.2554! We will gather at Church on the Hill Boston to hear from speakers beginning at 10:00am and then will head across the street to the State House to visit lawmakers and ask for their support passing H.2554 into law. \nWHY? \nVaccination rates in some Massachusetts schools and communities have dropped to dangerously low levels\, making outbreaks of preventable diseases not just possible\, but inevitable.  \nH.2554 provides a practical solution. The bill closes a loophole that allows parents to opt their children out of required immunizations while ensuring that necessary medical exemptions remain protected. The bills would also provide better data about our actual immunization rates throughout the Commonwealth. \nThis legislation was reported out favorably by the Joint Committee on Public Health in the last two legislative sessions. Now\, it’s time to pass it into law. \n

SUMMARY:Grading the State House: A Report Card on (In)action: 7/30\, 1 pm
DESCRIPTION:Grading the State House: A Report Card on (In)action: 7/30\, 1 pm\n\nMassachusetts legislators opened the legislative session by promising a more productive and transparent legislative session. However\, as we approach the end of the formal session\, few bills have been signed into law. \nThe Trump administration wages war on our state’s economy\, people\, and values. Our state grows more unequal and more unaffordable every month. Yet the Legislature fails to feel the urgency expressed everyday on the ground. \nWith the formal session drawing to a close\, activists will join at the State House to present a report card of the session to date across a range of subject matters. Representatives from relevant groups will be given the opportunity to grade the Legislature’s work so far and whether they are meeting the moment \n## \nOrganizations so far:\nProgressive Mass\nNeighbor to Neighbor Massachusetts\nFamilies for Justice as Healing\n\nNorth American Indian Center of Boston\nMass Trans Political Coalition\nHomes For All Massachusetts\nUnitarian Universalist Mass Action\nAct On Mass \n\nPublic Higher Education Network of Massachusetts (PHENOM)\nMass Power Forward Coalition\n\nOur Revolution Massachusetts

SUMMARY:Tuesday\, 8/18 @ 11 am\, State House: “Child Care Can’t Wait” Rally
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, 8/18 @ 11 am\, State House: “Child Care Can’t Wait” Rally\nSince the beginning of the FY27 budget season\, SEIU 509 has been advocating for increased funding to ensure that Family Child Care providers receive a reimbursement rate increase for childcare subsidies this year. \nSince Family Child Care Providers don’t have a traditional wage structure\, reimbursement rates for Child Care Financial Assistance are central to bargaining\, and SEIU 509 is at the table right now for a new three-year contract following two years of rate increases at or below 1%. \nSo far\, EEC has not made an offer on rates. With $0 currently appropriated for rate increases\, family child care providers could be on track for a 0% increase.

SUMMARY:Candidate forum with the MA Higher Ed Table
DESCRIPTION:Candidate forum with the MA Higher Ed Table\nSaturday\, August 22\, 2 pm to 4 pm\, Northeastern University \nMassachusetts often ranks first in the nation for higher education and boasts many top universities\, both public and private. Yet real challenges face the students\, faculty\, and staff who bring billions to the state economy and make Massachusetts the ‘most educated state in America\,’ especially in the current federal landscape. Rising costs for tuition and housing\, attacks on freedom of speech and academic inquiry\, and an increasingly uncertain labor market put higher education at an inflection point. Join the Massachusetts Higher Education Table and student leaders across the Commonwealth August 22\, from 2-4PM\, for a nonpartisan candidate forum on these and other issues facing higher education today. The event will be held at a school in the Greater Boston Area\, with hybrid options available. Candidates representing Massachusetts in local\, state\, and federal office are invited to speak and answer questions from attendees. RSVP here for more information and to stay updated.

SUMMARY:Phone Bank for the No on 5 campaign
DESCRIPTION:Phone Bank for the No on 5 campaign\n\n\nWe can only win this campaign with your support! \nBacked by wealthy investors and CEOs\, the dark-money Massachusetts Opportunity Alliance (MOA) is backing Question 5: a reckless ballot initiative that would impose a strict ‘revenue cap’ on Massachusetts and slash funding for classrooms\, hospitals\, and first responders across the state. Question 5 would force repeated cuts to state and local public services; lead to layoffs for teachers\, nurses\, and firefighters; and make healthcare\, childcare and housing more expensive. It would give billions to the rich while the rest of us suffer from cuts\, and severely limit the state’s ability to recover from recessions. Wealthy investors put Question 5 on the ballot because they don’t need public services themselves. Don’t be fooled: vote NO on 5 to protect the programs that make Massachusetts families and communities strong. \nJoin us to call voters and ensure they have a plan to Vote NO on question 5 in November!

Also known as birddogging\, spotlighting is the practice of showing up at public events where elected officials are present\, to ask them on-the-record questions about your issue and create public accountability.
