Letter to the Boston Globe from Our Executive Director

Calling yourself progressive ought to mean something.

THE ACTIVISTS of Progressive Massachusetts, a statewide grass-roots organization committed to progressive policies and values, couldn’t agree more with the Globe’s editorial position that “lawmakers should recognize that a rare opportunity to make crucial investments is passing them by” (“Legislature’s tax plan lets rare opportunity pass,” April 4).

Our members have spent the last six months calling for revenue that is substantial, progressively raised, and targeted to critical needs such as education, transportation, and human services.

We continue to hold out hope that the State House will reject the woefully inadequate measure proposed by legislative leadership. We will be watching closely how each and every legislator votes, because calling yourself progressive ought to mean something.

Executive director, Progressive Massachusetts
