Since the beginning of the FY27 budget season, SEIU 509 has been advocating for increased funding to ensure that Family Child Care providers receive a reimbursement rate increase for childcare subsidies this year.
Since Family Child Care Providers don’t have a traditional wage structure, reimbursement rates for Child Care Financial Assistance are central to bargaining, and SEIU 509 is at the table right now for a new three-year contract following two years of rate increases at or below 1%.
So far, EEC has not made an offer on rates. With $0 currently appropriated for rate increases, family child care providers could be on track for a 0% increase.
